When a woman has been through the worst symptoms of menopause, there’ll come a time when it starts to be a part of her life. Almost as if those signs are anticipated – a daily occurrence. But about the time you’ve gotten used to those bothersome symptoms, something magical will happen – you understand they’re going away. You could be entering what is called “post-menopause”, when that point is finally over.

By definition, that means 12 continuous months with no period. I’m positive that you are saying to yourself”I can not wait until it is over!” Not only will the worst of these symptoms are supporting you, but it might open up a whole new chapter in your life. Your family and friends may joke that now you’re really over the hill, or that it is all downhill from here. But if you’ve got the perfect attitude this may be the start of a true freedom you will enjoy for several years, particularly if it means finally getting your sanity and your health back! Now that you no longer have your monthly visitor and you do not need to worry about becoming pregnant, the only things you really must worry about are your health and your happiness.

Of course the absence of hormones still puts you at risk for osteoporosis, high cholesterol, and some cancers, but you know about the right? And you’re taking steps to minimize your risks, I’m sure. Things like eating right, exercising on a regular basis, taking vitamins and a daily calcium supplement, for starters. And do not forget to get an annual checkup in your physician’s office also. Don’t wait until something feels wrong, it might be too late. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, right? Now that you are not so preoccupied with hot flashes, night sweats, and the crazy feeling that you’re losing your mind, your focus will be far better.

Many women find this time of the lives excellent for trying new things: maybe a new career, going back to college if only for a few courses, learning a new language, all the things she could not do before in life because there simply was not enough time. Of course in case you still have children living at home, the responsibility is to them first. But still, with your new attitude and new outlook on life will make things look much smoother. Most girls in post-menopause report having more energy, they are considerably more stable emotionally, and are more tolerant of those around them. As if a veil was lifted, let this new phase of your life take wings and set you free!
