Every day a girl somewhere will be attacked, whether it’s walking home or walking to their car, it happens. Although each situation is different, there are things that women can do to help themselves, learn self indulgent and take precautions. It’s sad to think we are living in a world where girls have to watch their backs when running errands, but it is far better to be aware and be prepared.
There are steps every woman can take to protect themselves. The first step which may be taken secure is being aware of your environment. As my Mother always has advised me, do not walk out to your car alone at nights and in case you must walk on your own, have your telephone able to dial 911 if needed, do not be on social networking or texting because a diversion can cost you your life. Another tip my Mother always said, was to be conscious of the cars around you.
For instance, if you are walking out to your vehicle and the car next to you’re running with somebody sitting in the passenger side, and you must get right next to that door to get in, do not do it. Walk in and have someone escort you out. Another step which could be taken is shifting up your regular; do not do the exact same routine daily. This might appear silly and a little paranoid but it’s a lot easier to take these measures, then to become a victim of assault or worse.
I’m not talking about in the event that you must be in at work daily at 8, that some days appear late and a few days appear early, as you’d lose your job, what I mean is switch up the actions you can control. For instance, I love to walk my dog in the morning, but I do not normally go in exactly the exact same time. I like to change up the times I walk every day, and although I might seem totally paranoid, you don’t know who could be watching, and if you walk each morning at 7:30, that is highly predictable.
It’s scary to think that someone could be watching you once you’re out running errands or walking your dog, but it happens. I was followed home in high school, and although nothing happened, I just had a card and roses put in my windshield, what is even scarier is to think that I might have walked out while he had been there, and had no clue what to do.
You can find self-defense classes in each city, where you are able to learn the fundamentals of how to protect yourself in such situations, but the issue is, plenty of women do not have enough time to visit a self-defense class between their kids. While it is always a good idea to know self-defense techniques there are different things which you can do so as to be sure that you stay safe.
Every girl should carry pepper spray with them, it is a simple thing to do, and mine only hooks straight in my key chain. Despite the fact that it’s not the best use of security, it could provide you a bit of time to get away, if necessary. I’ve also heard stun-guns are popular things, although I have not had one, it is could be a great thing to have for security. Among the best things you can do is trust your instincts, which the majority of the time people attempt to ignore. If something does not feel right, or you feel funny, you need to trust that instinct because a lot of the time that your instincts wind up being right.
