On a winter’s afternoon, worthy of a Tolstoy introduction with its unnerving degrees below freezing and a wind chill to rival an ice bath, I had been given this guide to write. At first, I really did not have a great deal of answers. I like romance fiction myself but really to place it into a logical, framed box as an guide is, I was not sure.
But I knew that when I did some questioning of family and friends, I’d find out why forty percent of the bookselling market is dedicated to this genre and why it sells so well. Here are a few of the answers. Unsurprisingly, a number of them are the intangibles in our own lives. We could have a really bad day at work or in our home business or as a parent. The boss might have gone completely mad and delegated fifty projects due tomorrow.
Or the facsimile machine in our home office might have eaten yet another fax that we now need to call someone about and impress them with our office equipment. Maybe your two year old has discovered how to cut and run out of the breakfast table with jam dripping down his toddler fingers and no, he is headed for one of those clean rooms!
Estilo de vida
Many days, life can be hectic. When all of the craziness of day to day life has to be returned to a balance between living and responding, there’s nothing better than stepping into a love. Romance readers report having a feeling of renewal once they submerge themselves in a joyful, love story. It’s a means of getting the day’s dirt off our shoes and sitting down to relax. A literary tome would not do for the event. A mystery would not be quite right but a love is always the hero of the day.
Romance readers also reported seeing a feeling of confidence in books about love. Maybe you’re true life love requires a small repair and a weekend in Bali, but fall to a book and they have it so much worse. I remember a book I read years ago when the main character had done something out of character and mooned a vehicle which of course turned out to be driven by her new boss.
She spent the entire book, more or less cringing anytime she watched him for fear he would recognize her birthmark. From embarrassing, to desperate to any sort of random misfortune, the heroines and heroes make all of it. As human beings, we will need to get a sense of confidence and when our own soul is battered, why not a love? If you have read the story of Pandora’s Box, in amonst all the awful things that escaped, expect escaped also. As an avid reader of romance fiction, I truly think that romance provides hope.
Whatever the obstacles, the main characters have to work beating all of the reasons why the world is rotten but find through the book the minutes of hope, the soul to continue. Romance readers are treated to trust in every book that really is a love. While not every love is precisely the same, we could take the guess work from a book by choosing a love straight away. We can know for sure that in the end of the book, we’re guaranteed a happy ending.
Because of this, most romances attempt to adhere to a general look of a romance. And obviously, we could also assume that women read romance in droves for the personalities. Think of a few of the heroes you might have read. They are generally gorgeous, tortured, complicated spirits that would melt the heart. Truly, I think many girls only need to entwine their lives in reading of those guys who will do what is needed to fix the day’s problem. If you’re looking for a love affair and feel you must hide the cover in the store clerk, then forget about it. Women have been reading love forever and you are justified a fantastic romance book any day of the week. Just do not forget to switch off the stove until you tune in to a fantastic romance.
