    What Is The Endocrine System?

Our most well-known endocrine gland is the thyroidgland. Not nearly as well known is the fact that half of the population has thyroid issues, mostly undiagnosed or abused. The thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland found by your Adam’s apple, controls metabolism and influences everything else.

    Good to know

You may know more about the weight issues, hair loss, brain fog, depression, extreme fatigue, etc. that accompany an underperforming thyroid gland. Some of you have experienced the dwelling on the edge sensation of thyroid gland. Hyper and hypo share a great deal of the exact symptoms, but hypo people generally feel like a lump of mush that does not wish to move, while hyper men and women feel tired, but wired. One sure thing about thyroid issues is that you never lack for a boatload of symptoms.

One reference book listed slightly more than 300 symptoms for hypothyroidism alone. Is it any wonder, then, that physicians do not want to hear about them? Doctors favor blood tests to symptoms. Which is not a surprise considering they’ve just a couple of minutes per trip to figure out things. So who could complain-if the tests worked. The gold standard test-the TSH-came to us according to a vote of endocrinologists, not science. They keep shifting the goal posts to make things come out right, but that doggone test will not cooperate. Never mind. Full speed ahead. And millions of individuals drag through life since doctors will not listen to their symptoms, and they’fail’ the TSH test.

      Why Not To Underestimate Measles?

    Hyperthyroidism

One form of hypothyroidism, inherited from mothers, never moves the TSH-or any other evaluation. Type 2 hypothyroidism, as it is called, is about symptoms. The tests don’t have anything to do with anything, so those patients, perhaps a vast majority of hypothyroid individuals, do not get treated. Low thyroid function, whatever its origin, leads to heart attacks, fibromyalgia, auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, adrenal failure, and on, and on. All added, obviously, to the heap of symptoms you begin with.

Thyroid problems require prompt and appropriate treatment to save the day. The TSH test ensures that most folks won’t get it. Worse, when physicians do treat hypothyroidism, they compound the issue by treating it with Synthroid or among its ugly generic cousins. Our bodies are not so keen on synthetics that don’t seem like the real thing, and artificial thyroid, inducing four out of the five components of natural thyroid, does not look anything like the real thing. And it causes allergic reactions in many people. So you won’t get better, but your physician will say you are good or prescribe an antidepressant, which will not help. And when your thyroid is overactive? Doctors usually remove overactive thyroid gland so patients can become hypothyroid and get the typical bogus treatment for it. They then get to beg for the advantage they had to live on.

    Did you know?

Iodoral (iodine/iodide) (Lugol’s Solution is the liquid version) reverses hyperthyroidism? Helps a ton with hypothyroidism, also. But doctors will warn you to not take any sort of iodine lest you kill yourself. Sigh. Well, at least they are about iodized salt; which does not have such a fantastic history. I’ve been dealing with this mess pretty much all of my life. Tough sledding doesn’t start to describe it. But this information age opens the floodgates to great information. Including mine-thirty-plus years of research coming at you.
