The youthful me was a force of nature. As a kid, we were always flirting with other people from our strollers and playing in the sandbox with other children. Connection is in our genetic coding. When I say our genetic coding, I’m referring to females.

Intuition, imagination, emotions and accessibility to pleasure will be the inner-tools which make us feminine monsters and create community. We can hear the significance of words which aren’t spoken and pick up the emotional tones in different people’s voices. These skills enable us to relate, harmonize and encourage one another. I recall when the young me would welcome every day, each individual, and every experience with the complete excitement of my heart.
There was no uncertainty about how I felt, what I wanted or how I expressed it. I’d feel complete and righteous because I sensed divinity. Once breast started to blossom and the explosion of estrogen-progesterone started to change daily and weekly, the bond for link and sensitivity to psychological nuances became stronger.
During this hormonal change, many women start to perceive that their ideas and feelings didn’t fit in with the people around them. This is also the period when the body gets decidedly feminine, leaving from the perfect body shape of a boy: level, slender hips, and toned stomach. To cover up their feelings and femininity, many women start to emotionally and compulsively consume, yo-yo diet, and a few, like myself, develop disordered eating. As we would like to match, we dim our feminine lights which were shining so bright.
Pounds were agonized over to cover-up deeper pain. I emphasized the character of myself- my womanly creature. My light was replaced with self-doubt and reduced self-esteem. I forgot how to cry, the way to move my body with imagination, feel pleasure out of my perceptions, and how to trust the wisdom in my own. I think each woman has a connection with eating which provides advice on her feelings, needs, and desires.

We become emotionally and spiritually hungry. The way we consume can direct us on how we feel about our femininity and our own life. Part of stirring the femininity and healing the relationship with food is to become aware of what is happening. When you start to listen to your self, it is important to give up self-judgment, bring compassion to yourself and become a researcher. I had to become my own science experiment. When a combination of different formulas did not get the response I need, I trained myself to think: “How interesting.
What makes it respond this way?” Each formula is 1 step nearer to the want you crave and long for. Your meals can become your friend and co-researcher, rather than a rival. I went to a female village. The door is open for you. I joined a community of women that let me feel secure and inviting in expressing my credibility, creativity and to explore my delights.
Being part of a community of women to reflect your light when doing the exact same for them isn’t just a wonderful deal of fun but awakens one to something larger than yourself. This is what I see as a place for celebration and healing for girls. When women come together and recognize the inherent wisdom in one another and permit the body to function as instructor they start to recover trust in the wisdom of the deepest insecurities, feelings, and remaining true to their heart.
Living out of our healing and truth our eating styles also means being there for other folks. As we all allow ourselves to be versions then we notice alternative methods and options about how to be a woman in this world. Nicole Ohebshalom, RN, RYT is dedicated to helping women find a dynamic balance in their lives through health, inner peace, and freedom of expression, which she thinks will enhance every woman’s life and make a more heart-centered world.
While working in an infertility and endocrinology centre, Nicole decided to leave the hospital world to follow her heart and help women naturally. In 2006, she founded Radiant Living Wellness, a space for women’s health and recovery. This global community is intended to be a platform for women to obey the inherent wisdom of the bodies, gain peace with food, and become experts in their own bodies and health. The objective is to have girls receive advice and participate in conversations about each element of being a woman in order that they could heal and lead their own lives with compassion, pleasure, and empowerment.
